man, I could have used these before zeroing my BCM middy
now I got my Aimpoint H1, I'm going to take this knowledge and targets to the range. unfortunately, I can only go to an indoor range (winter conditions in suburbs of Chicago at the moment) that is around 25yards per http://www.article2range.com/gun-range/ |

First off thank you. Now I can sight in my DDm4v5 with both BUIS and my new eotech. My issue is, when i print with no scale, my black boxes are measured over 1cm. Is that going to be an issue? Yeah I know, im a noob :) Ledanek: Thats where I will be going to shoot my rifle. MAYBE Gat Guns since they are just about to open their new range. But thats a drive for me.
EDIT: thats for the 50y/200m optic target. Should of noted that. The others were fine. |

Thanks so much for putting these together.
Gonna use the 300 meter version to sight in my rifle and I just wanted to confirm a few things. I notice with the 300m target for iron sights the point of aim is pretty much the point of impact while after sighting in on the optic target the sight is then adjusted down 2 MOA. Is that because the difference between 25m and 33m is pretty much negligible with iron sights and the 2 MOA difference is just technically where the POI "should" be? Thank you! Chris |

Thank you.

I just went out to the range with the version for irons and Aimpoints. I used the iron version for my ACOG as well.
Thanks for putting these together. My Aimpoint was close before but I got it dialed in. Same with my ACOG and irons on both guns. I'll be bookmarking this. |

Thanks for all your hard work on these targets!
I'm waiting for my first AR build to be ready at the gunsmith (headspace check). I haven't sighted in an AR since I was in the Army in 1998 (M16A2) - we used a 25 yard target to zero at 300 yards, and I could hit any target between 50 and 300 yards (scored 39 out of 40 with it). Now, my AR build has a 16", mid-length gas tubed, 3-groove polygonal-rifled barrel; and I've installed the USGI rear BUIS from Matech, with a Troy same-plane M4 front sight mounted as far forward as I can get it - on the front end of the gas block's top rail. Which target should I use to zero my AR so that I can hit man-sized steel targets at my local range from 50 to 300 yards? |
|
|
The drop is velocity dependent. You have a 16" barrel which is much closer to 14.5" than 20". Use the M4 target, but use the 200 Meters setting on your Matech and zero at 50 yards.
As always with these shorter zeroing techniques, you will need to confirm them at the longer ranges, when you get a chance to do so. |
|
|
The offset from a 50yd to a 25M zero is ~2.8cm to 3.0cm low.
FWIW, I just use a 3" circle at 50yds to zero my carbines initially, then adjust if need be. |
|
|
I used the 80%-scaled printout of the 50m zero (as shown in my previous post, which made each square 1cm), and it worked very well. By my third 4-round grouping, I was right on target, and also on target at 200m. Sights used are the Matech USGI BUIS (rear), with Troy standard M4 front sight.
Many thanks to the OP for all his hard work on these targets! |

Thank you!!!!

How about some for 16" mid-length sight radius?

this is amazing! I wish i had seen this earlier today! Thanks

Awesome targets..they really worked

OK, may be a dumb question, but one I need to ask to make sure I do this right!
When it says "Aim center mass of silhouette" it does in fact mean the black body silhouette and not the center of the target correct? So basically you aim at the silhouette, but you want to shoot into the circle in the center of the target, correct? Also, would these targets apply for a 16" .308 AR as well or would that be a whole other beast? ETA: never mind, answered the first question on page one. Missed that the first time through the thread. But the second question still remains. |

Best target for zeroing a TA31 (Donut) at a reduced 25-Yard range? (20" rifle & M193 ammo)
|
|
|
Great and useful! I'll be using them for sure!
But I have to throw in this that I found to be a problem on a "precision optic" I have been using and have liked Before. These targets will not help... Check this out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7TWYMT4Jerw That plus zero shift, but "only" a couple of inches between 1x and 4x is what I found checking it carefully after seeing this. Now I know why I've had problems. It is dangerous to use for professionals!! |

Thanks alot for these man!!! I will be using these to sight in both my EXPS and also my irons.

Great targets you posted up. I printed some out so I can do the 50/200 meter zero with my 14.5 barrel. I have never zeroed like this it has always been the 300 meter zero at our ranges when we do zero/qual's.
I am running a KAC front flip up sight and KAC 600 meter rear sight. My question is do I set my rear sight on the 200 meter mark and then proceed with the zeroing of my sights? When I get it zeroed for the 50/200 meter set up do I leave the rear sight set on the 200 meter setting or do I set it back on one of the other settings? |

Does anyone have a link to the original 50/200M Zero Target for 14.5"/16" Carbine targets? Seems as though these old links have been down for some time.
