I think it will be perfectly fine. I say this because there was a past thread about a test performed on Vltor gas block that attached in the same way. The test was designed to torque on the gas block to measure how much force would be required to rotate it. The index pin on the barrel actually bent before the gas block moved!

Mind you this applies only to the clamp-on design. I don't believe a set-screw design is as strong.
