Bloodsport2885: Because if your riflemen can't reach it, your marksman can. If your marksman can't reach it, your sniper can. If your sniper can't reach it, your arty/air can. If they can't reach it then fuck that target. He isn't even worried about you.

Until I'm going into combat (and at 47 years old, that's not likely to happen), I find BUIS irrelevant myself. Don't get me wrong, all of my rifles have them (and good ones) simply because everyone says the same thing and I bought into it -- "you just have to have BUIS or you ain't operator enuf..." Well, I have yet to use them outside of sighting them in and flipping them back down, where they have stayed since that time. I have ACOGs, Aimpoints, and EOTechs, and I've never had one fail or found it necessary to switch to BUIS. So I call phooey on BUIS for the overwhelming majority of we middle-aged Jason Bourne wannabe couch potatoes who grunt when we get out of our chairs. BUIS are nothing more than bling for the masses. |

Dollars to donuts that guy probably has or has used a Sightmark red dot and just mounted it thinking he knew how it worked without bothering the check.
