the 45m has a straight railed top and when you remove the front section it doesnt have rails.
the 50 has two levels of rail along with a add-on for the lower portion making it like the 45. the difference in thickness is like 1/2 to an inch difference imo. there are also other freefloats out there that dont require removal of the fsb. troy samson midwest industries think the new vltor as well. |

What do you think of the new Vltor? I like the ARMS on this rifle though.

dont really like the way the vltor looks, i like the arms set up as well.

There's a new ARMS SIR coming out, it should be soon. Might want to wait to see it. I know I want one!

Dont really know if its the same or different than last years, becaue the one they showed last year was not available to see a whole lot. It is certainly similar though. Continuous rail, nothing on the flat top, very light weight... It looks interesting, and I look forward to getting one.

Aren't the troy and samson essentialy the same thing, just marked differently? |

Troy and Samson are VERY similar, they look identical in fact. But there are small differences between them. The Samson for instance has thicker tabs that the lower rail slides into, a captivated locking detent, and a screw to secure it all in. The Troy has the locking detent, but is not captivated, and has no locking screw. The finish is a little different between them, the Troy is almost a glass black, the Samson a flat lighter black color. The Samson has no pannels, the Troy comes with Tango Down pannels, making it a better deal between the two.
