I just received a Burris XTS red dot. In darker locations (in the house or outside at night), with the brightness on higher settings, the dot lights up a bit of the interior of the tube, around the edges. Is this normal for a red dot in the dark? It's quite distracting.

Is there a reason you are turning the brightness up in darker conditions?  Typically you turn it down in darker conditions, and up out in daylight.

Yes, that's normal for a red-dot, an illuminated scope, and pretty much anything that lights up.

Turn the dot down in the dark and it won't "bloom".

No specific reason for turning the brightness up; I had just received the optic and was simply looking through it and trying the different brightness levels. I've never owned a red dot before and  wanted to know. Thank you , Onslaught, for your clarification.
