Friend picked up a Leupold scope at the gunshow.  He's wanting to know if he got a good deal.

Scope is a VarX III LR 6.5-20x50.  It is a 30mm golden ring model.  Multi-coat 4 lens.  It has side focus, target turrents, and a USMC mil-dot reticle.  I believe it is an older model tactical, before the MK4 series and before they blacked out the golden ring on the tacticals.  The model number is 52199.  Scope is in excellent condition and came with Warne 30mm rings.  Also had the box, cleaning cloth, etc.

He thinks it's to heavy for his light weight varmint he was going to use it on.

Any info on the scope, it's approximate age, and it's value would be appreciated.

Thanks..LL
