I HAVE ALREADY SOLD MY PERSONAL GG&G MOUNT IN ANTICIPATION. RECENTLY, I GOT IN AN ARMS #29 NIGHT VISION MOUNT, BUT IT DID NOT FIT OVER THE OBJECTIVE OF MY F6015P. A VERY NICE DESIGN, THOUGH. THE ARMS, THE INSIGHT TECHNOLOGY,THE GG&G, AND THE LARUE TACTICAL MOUNTS ALL ALLOW FOR THE ADAPTER ARM TO REMAIN INSTALLED ON THE PVS-14 WHEN THE NVD IS MOUNTED TO THE WEAPON.
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? YOU WANT FOR IT TO BE SIMPLE TO MOVE THE NVD FROM THE WEAPON TO YOUR HEAD/HELMET MOUNT. THE NVD BELONGS ON YOUR HEAD 99.9% OF THE TIME. IDEALLY, YOU SHOOT UTILIZING AN INFRARED LASER IN ALL BUT THE PRONE POSITION. YES, I REALIZE THESE ARE NOT READILY AVAILABLE.
KEEPING THE NVD ON THE WEAPON IN THE FIELD IS JUST PLAIN ASKING FOR TROUBLE, I.E., SAFETY ISSUES. OF COURSE, IT'S FINE ON A SQUARE RANGE. MOST OF US DO NOT HAVE ACCESS TO AN I.R. LASER, SO THE ONLY ALTERNATIVE IS MOUNTING THE NVD ON THE WEAPON, AND BEING EXTREMELY CAREFUL NOT TO SUCCUMB TO THE TEMPTATION TO POINT THE WEAPON AT EVERYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO SEE.
M.S.T.N. IS WORKING WITH A MAJOR PLAYER IN THE NIGHT VISION GAME ON A WEAPON-GRADE VISIBLE LASER WITH A RHEOSTAT. THE PURPOSE OF THE RHEOSTAT IS TO BE ABLE TO CRANK THE VISIBLE LASER DOWN TO THE POINT IT CAN ONLY BE SEEN EFFECTIVELY WITH NIGHT VISION, JUST LIKE THE DOT IN A NIGHT VISION-CAPABLE AIMPOINT OR EOTHING. SUCH A DEVICE WOULD BE IDEAL FOR CIVILIAN APPLICATION.
