I'm finally ordering a 16" BM flattop upper for my Pre-ban PWA lower.  The ARMS #40 will be my BUIS and the front sight will be a standard GI tower. I'm also using M4 handguards and an A1 stock.

Hopefully I will be mounting an Aimpoint ML2 in the near future.  After researching the board and shopping around I've come to the conclusion that there's roughly a bazillion ways to mount the Aimpoint. I could use some help.

The gun is for "civillian" self defense in an urban enviroment and will spend most of it's life sheltered in my house (when it's not on the range.) I haven't made up my mind weather I want/need QD levers.

Basically, I need something reasonably rugged, affordable, and simple. It may lead a primarily "pampered" life but it's still a fighting gun.

Lastly I've read some people complain about how other optics sit so low that the front sight tower clutters up the optic's window.  This being the case, should I use a mount that keeps the tower in the lower portion of the optic's window or is this really a non-issue?

Pictures would really help.

Many thanks for your comments and suggestions.

If it's for defense, get the ARMS 22M68 with a full spacer, if it's for just fun then most anything will do.IMO

I like the 22M68 with extension spacer.  It's a little expensive, but not out of my price range.  I have some questions.

1. Are the throw levers problematic in any way?

2. Why a forward cantilever riser instead of a straight-up riser?  Would the ARMS full-height spacer work the same or is there a pracitcal difference?

3. With an ARMS#40 and GI sight tower, are the irons co-witnessed through the center of the ML2 or in the upper or lower sight plane?

Thanks again.
