I have a RRA m4 upper with a Eotech 551. Would like a BUIS, but don't really need it to fold out of the way.

I already have the RRA handle/site and was thinking of cutting it to serve as a BUIS.

Has anyone done this?

If so, any problems doing so?

Would it be better to sell/trade the site a true BUIS?

I did it to a bm carryhandle. I think it is the most effective/cost effecient way to have a back up sight if you dont need a folder. I cut it with a dremill, painted the bare metal and it kept its zero. It is rock solid. Thanks for the pics Fro. But I was wondering if anyone has tried doing that to a RRA Tact. handle like the one here www.rockriverarms.com/item-detail.cfm?ID=AR0052CASY&storeid=1&image=chndls.gif (on the right)

My bad I thought you were refering to a standard carry handle.

My God Man!, I was seriously wondering how you managed to mount A Tiki-Torch to the rail of your upper...[:D]

Hamel, don't see why you couldn't do it, though you could pick up a CH for $50 if you shop around, I got a colt for $50 that is going to be cut down. I want to know what that round thing is near the FS? Looks like a large ring of some sort.

xanadu, Its actually a cintranella tiki-torch. Theres been alot of mosquitos this year and my rifles ready for anything[:D] TNRonin Its a sling attachment that I got in a box of junk at a yard sale. The box had a colt 20rd mag in it so I gave a quarter for the whole box. It attaches to the sling swivel and has a wire sewn into the ring. I attach the hook from my IDF sling on it and it doesnt get hung up. The hook will slide all the way around. I've had good luck on the equipment exchange here.
