Some told me I'll need a higher front post. Some tell me I will not. Can someone tell the truth? Is it just Colt A3's that need the higher post?

I just re read, only COLT make all thier front sights to the correct ht. as they are the only ones that sell to the military and have to meet the military spec. The mil spec rear sights all work with Colt front sights. The #40 is mil spec and will work with either the Colt rifle or carbine length barrels. If you by a busmaster carbine, you (may) need a longer front sight bead, no big deal to install.
Good shootin, Jack

When I had a dissipator barrel on my BM, I had no problem with the standard front sight & #40. When I switched it over to an M4 barrel (also BM manufacture), I discovered that the taller front sight post was necessary. I had another flattop with a #40 on it (shorty-AK w/heavy 14.5 inch barrel) and the taller post wasn't needed; based on that, unless you are using an M4 barrel, it should work fine with the sight post that came with the rifle.

I just went through this when I got my #38EX.  I have a post-ban Bushy M4A3 and had to order the higher front sight post.  I received responses from 2 or 3 people who stated I'd need the higher post.

I had to raise the front sight to get a zero on my BM M4 upper, but not enough to warrant a new front sight when using the 40.

Would the Trijicon front sight work with the #40 with an M4 barrel flattop?

I've got a Bushy M4/ARMS 40 combo that works fine without a tall front sight.

BTW, only Colt could **** something this simple up, but then again, their list of **** ups over the life of the AR is long. Long live Bushmaster!
