I just discovered dot sights yesterday and am trying to figure out which one to buy.  I want to initially use it on my sons Marlin .22, because my AR is just right and I'm not going to mess with it.  I looked at the Bushnell heads up style, but have noticed there are several recommendations here for the Tasco tube type.  Lots of questions.  Can you leave both eyes open with the tube type?  Is the tube type as easy to use as the Bushnell?   Which one is quicker?  Which one do you recommend for under about $150?

FWIW, for serious use the Aimpoint ML, ML2 and EOTechs are the top choices in red-dot optics.

All red-dot optics listed above are designed for both eyes open shooting, and the holosight type EOTech is considered by most to be the quicker, YMMV.

Sorry I'm not up on cheapie model red-dots.

I don't know if the JP J-point can be had for that but it is a good sight.
