I've got an ARMS #40 on my AR right and would like to add a #36S-EX. Does anyone know if this will work? I assume so but I'm want to be sure.

And yes, I know I could use a #38S-EX but since I've already go the BUIS, I don't see any reason to get rid of it to get a #38S-EX. I'll be cheaper to just get the #36S-EX.

Also, I thought I read somewhere that Swan Sleeves, particularly the extended ones aren't compatible with KAC RAS. This doesn't make sense to me but then again, I really don't know.

Thank in advance.

They are not compatible, The 36 extends all the way over the top of the upper, including the non-rail section over the charging handle. If you mount a 40 or 40A on top of it, you'll be too high to use the front sight. Sorry. Best bets might be to sell the 40 and get a 38, get a GGG rail that doesn't go all the way to the back, or get the 36, then hacksaw and alumablack it to get it to fit with the 40. Sluggo

Thanks for the reply sluggo. I should have made my question more clear. I wasn't thinking about putting the #40 on top of the #36. However, I was thinking I could just mount the #36 forward of the #40. I can't think of a reason why this wouldn't be possible aside from not having enough room to fit it across the receiver and the top of the RAS which I can verify by measuring my AR. That being said, I would expect that it's best to mount the #36 so both clamps are on the receiver.

Correct, do not use the #36 except for the way it was intended. Sell the #40 for $85 and put that towards a #38. Saw one go for $150 on EE. Cost you about $75. Beside the #36 will cost you $90. May be more expensive to do it the way you were thinking.

Yeah, I know. That was probably mine :) I've got a 552 on my AR right now and I'm looking to try out an Aimpoint M2 on it. I really don't like the 22M68 with a full riser so I'll probably try the 1/2 riser after I confirm that it puts the irons in the middle of the M2's sight picture. I've got a fold down front sight in addition to the #40. I'm happy with my EO Tech but I can't get the M2 out of my mind. I feel that I have to at least try one for a little while to be sure.
