Interesting... How much extension does it offer compared to a standard 22M68 and how much does it weigh compared to a full spacer?
I think I want to try it (depending on price, of course), but I already have a 22M68, so how much for just the extension spacer? |

So does this thing take the place of the spacer on my #22M68? If so I don't think it would work with my normal length Swan Sleeve.

Man, thats great. Thats REALLY great. I am so happy to see this. ARMS is really something else. Every single thing they put out just keeps getting better and better. If you have a normal length SWAN sleeve, just get rid of it all together and use this plus a #40 rear. Saves weight, saves money, forward mounts, its a win-win decision. |

I see that this new offering fills a niche for those who want the quick-off mounting. Choices and options are great! [:)] Bring on more! But otherwise this three piece setup doesn't seem any better than the established GG&G and Knight's offerings. Yawn. Maybe I just don't have the ARMS religion/infection?

Let me give you an example of where it is REALLY nice. I've just built a new upper with a flattop, and I wanted a cantilever-mounted AimPoint on it. BUT... I know that down the road I'm going to have a railed free-float tube installed, and would use a standard ARMS #22M68 with full spacer to mount it on the float tube rail. So, I'd be paying $200 for a mount that I would only use for a short time. Now, I can buy the ARMS #22M68 with the cantilever spacer and the standard full spacer for LESS money than, say, the GG&G cantilever mount, and I can reconfigure at will. It also gives me the throw-lever mount that I prefer. That's a pretty nice development to me. -Troy |

I've got a GG&G Cantilever, and I love it. But look at how much mounting serface there is on the base of the ARMS unit vs the GG&G or Knights. Think about the convienience of the quick release mount vs the thumb screw on the GG&G or screws on the Knights. Think about the long tested and prooven return to zero throw lever mount. And finally, think about the modularity Troy just mentioned. By merely manipulating the spacer you can have one mount that will work on very nearly any platform. If you are yawning, the advantages went right over your head.

They finally made it. I have been bugging ARMS since last year to build me one of these but they said they were tied down with military contracts and at first they didn't think it would be as strong as a regular spacer. Also they got it out for under $50.00 that is cool. The thing is I just bought a used GG&G cantilever mount TODAY... can't win for losing I guess. I thought I was going to regret staying up this late, but after seeing that pic Troy I don't. [:)]
And you even have a chopped CH, M4 HG's and fixed front sight. Just light what it would look like on my rifle. I've been having a hard time deciding if this would make a difference on my rifle. Well, here it is prior to the Colt Enhanced M4 stock and CavArms M4 HG's which I've added since this pic. I won't be able to do it without editing, but I'll have to see how much space the new spacer can get me. I'm already maxing out my M68 mount (max'd out is not ideal I realize). So lemme get this pic up and we can compare. But the front of your Aimpoint is around 4 ribs more forward than mine (as measures on the ribs of your M4 HG's). Yeah, I could measure mine but my rifle is locked away upstairs and my wife wouldn't be happy if I woke everyone up just to measure optic placement. So Troy, how much more do you like this than if it had a standard straight high riser at the same base placement point? I've never really had that "looking through a tube" feeling with my M2. Which is why I have the shred of hesitation on this one. Otherwise it would've been my first and hopefully not last purchase from Wes. [;)] EDITED to fix typos and add info after my pic came up. |

yeah, would have been nice to get ahold of one of those cantilever ARMS spacers... Before I did the trim job on a Surefire 500A handguard to get clearance for a #38Ext so I could mount my M68 in about the same position.
Does about the same thing as putting an M68 out on the very end of a #38Ext, I don't have mine mounted all the way out on the end of my #38Ext but if I did the overall results would be pretty similar I bet. I could make a very long winded thread on why thats exactly where it works for me. Has to do with my eyes and where they bug out at for both eyes open shooting...Wes has got my back on this.
IPSC-Guy...get the Vltor stock. The cheek-weld is GREAT. And the fact that I have it stuffed with Surefire and Aimpoint batteries makes it even cooler. |
