Small, easy to pocket in a pinch when out and about with no gear on, and is great for prone or bench shooting.

I have plenty of Lancers, Pmags, etc...

Mainly wanting them for the retro look, but I did notice the ribs are a little different. Need them to be gray also.

If Okay does sell the production tooling to somebody, presumably they couldn't be marketed as "Okay"-brand mags. Unless the new owner pays a licensing fee to Okay. And it sounds like Okay wants to wash their hands of the whole product line.

At that point they’re just another aluminum mag.

Okay got their reputation for being better back when the out of spec Sanchez GI mags were in circulation.

People boutta find out that they’re just another shitty aluminum mag.

I know you're a Pmag guy, but I've never had a bad Okay. Bad Centers (of various vintages, bad Adventureline, bad DSI Sanchez. Okays have been stellar. Even the oldies I was fishing out of crusty milk crates during the AWB from some decade prior.

I like GI mags, but I have had problems with commercial Okays.

They’re actually the magazine that pushed me into the Pmag or bust camp.

I can understand that. They make a lot of things for the medical field. That is a Libtard rich environment. The management of Okay Industries no doubt doesn't want to get cancelled when the hospitals find out that they make "High Capacity Magazines" for the public.

Anyone every find out if the Okay equipment was sold to someone?

Are they still making mags for the rest of this year or are they already done?

I remember reading either on here or on twitter that there's a new owner of the equipment, but they weren't allowed to disclose the info yet. But that's been at least a month or two ago.

I heard somewhere that the magazine production is in it's own building. I'm hoping someone buys the whole operation. I mean the building, the machines, the inventory, and keep the same employees. That would be the best case scenario. Nothing would change except the name stamped on the magazines. I know it's wishful thinking on my part.

I would love to know who the buyer is and I look forward to seeing if the new manufacturer lives up to the previous reputation.

I like Pmags and have plenty, but I really liked having Okay mags as well. I am at probably a 50/50 mix right now.

I’ve done a few group buys on mags.

You have to get up in 10K+ mags to get any price break. Margins are razor thin on those mags at current prices.

Just to kind of update this thread, I found Surefeeds today locally in FDE or whatever color they call it. They have a 4/22 production date and green MagPul followers. I found it interesting that the floorplates are also FDE and there is no markings on them, zero/ziltch/nada just plain FDE.

I seem to be the only guy in NC that still buys and shoots solely Okays or metal GI mags so I felt obliged to buy several more. I'll post pics if anyones interested.

@samsgreen50

I'd be interested. The only coated floodgates that I've seen were on a set of factory blocked mags.

@TGWLDR also of note, the color shading is different. Granted the reference is an E2 mag, it also has a patent stamped into it, again possibly because it's an E2

Did you miss out on the Surefeeds when they were making them with tan baseplates? I posted about them here when they first showed up in 2018. They were made that way for a couple years, but they reverted back to black baseplates sometime in 2020, I think.

The parent company of Palmetto State Armory that also owns AAC, Harrington and Richardson, DPMS, etc...

They certainly took advantage of the Remington bankruptcy.

Or maybe a buyer could go back to branding them as NHMTG as Okay used to do for magazines made for the civilian market.

NHMTG was a different company than Okay. It was New Helvetia Manufacturing and Trade Group.

Owned by Ronan Corp, founded by a former president of Colt IIRC.

An email Posted on TOS in 2014:

The NHMTG brand name is going away, but not the magazine. As you may know, Ronan Corp has been distributing Okay Industries magazines to the commercial market under the NHMTG brand name for the past 15 years. These are the same magazines that Okay has manufactured for the US military for more than 40 years. We will continue to offer the same high quality magazine, but now they will be sold under the Okay SureFeed name, and be available with both the traditional mil-spec gray dry lube finish, as well as a black PTFE (Teflon) coating.

Thanks

Steve Pelletier
Ronan Corp

I work at a distributor that sold OK Industries mags by the pallet.  They aren't all that much cheaper by the pallet (less than $1 per mag), not much margin in mags in a normal market.
