Picked up an old school Colt 20rnd mag at the gun show today for $10. The finish is about 60% gone down to the bare metal.
From the Mag FAQ, I've identified it as a later run of the early Air Force contract mags. (Colt AR15 .223 floorplate, dull alloy follower)
* get a collector's item.
* get a good mag for a decent price.
* pay too much.
* get ripped off.
IMHO: * get a good mag for a decent price.
some will apy a premium for those mags, but they ar efar and few. Most will say it's a decent mag. put it to decent use.
You have a good mag, and you got it at a good price.
Not sure about being a collectors item, but who knows.
I had 5(2 in wrapper I sold for $75 a piece, still have the other 3) of the first 30 rd mags made. A medic gave them to me in trade for 5x NIW 30rd mags.
He told me he was issued them(still in the silver wrapper) in Afghanistan.
They(the 3) are in good shape, never fired they just sat in his ammo pouch loaded for 7 months.
I would try to sell them, but they go nicely with my Retro AR.
The other 2 (still in the wrapper) stayed in his rucksack.
