My brother found three 30rd Colt AR15 Magazines at an antique store. They are in great shape and he only paid $15.00 for the lot(why can't I find deals like that). The baseplate is marked Colt AR15. The follower is dark green(almost black) that looks like bakelite and has a number stamped in white. The number for the mag I am looking at now is 62665A. One of the mags has the same number that is stamped on the follower stamped into the metal on the side of the mag. Any idea when the mags were made?

Those mags were made in the late 60s and were some of Colt's first 30 round magazines.

If in good condition, they do command a slightly higher price to collectors (about $30 - $40 each).

Tell me, does the floor plate have "Cal 5.56" stamped on it, or "Cal .223"?

Thanks,

Quoted:
I've got a 20rd. stamped .223 on the base plate. The mag body has a stamped circle with the number 1 inside it on the left side.

I'm told it was for the original SP1.

That is correct, they were for the SP1. Unless it is in perfect condition, it will only bring slightly higher (very slightly) than a regular USGI 20rnder.
