This stuff is back in the country.  I tested it out today in my M60E6 and M1A1, and it is hotter than IMI and Lake City, relatively clean, has beautiful looking brass, and is non corrosive.  I just ordered 20 more cans because the price is hard to beat.  Has anyone else been using this stuff right now or in the past?  What are your thoughts?  Enjoy!

Sorry needed to add it available at aim and SG.  Very very good stuff.

Forgot to mention.  It has a lead core.  The only drawback is that while it is non corrosive, it is berdan primed.

"It has a lead core." If it had a steel core it'd be unimportable.

Midway USA has it for like 44 cents per round.  Or 46.  Something like that.  Although that's without shipping.  Seemed like a good deal if it's good ammo.

How is the Bolt action or say Springfield M1 accuracy ?

Is this really the "good stuff" down range, bi-metal jacket and all ?

Dirty ??

Thank you !

Some surplus ammo is surplus because the case was corroded.

Exactly.  The statement was to let people know that 0 elements from outside made it into the can in 33 years.

SG Ammo says it's bi-metal jacket. Don't know how dirty it is.

37 cents per round plus shipping.

In 30 Cal Cans.

In 50 Cal Cans.

The stuff in the 30 Cal Cans looks much dirtier in the pics.

I'd stick with the 50's.

Yes.  The 30 cans look bad inside.  All my 50 cans look perfect on the inside and the ammo is spotless.  Very pleased!

900 rounds, crated 30 cal. cans.  A little crusty outside, goodness inside.  The crate arrived intact, I opened it to inspect.  Would buy again in this format.

I have a bunch of Radway Green for my FALs. May get some of this also. The price is tempting at 38 cents per round from AIM.

To me in Washington State, AIM shipping was $40 for the can of 540 while SG Ammo was only $22 (and I added a few boxes of 9mm 124 +P HST to the order without a shipping increase).

Technical content:  my neighbor has some Malaysian 7.62 from a previous import and said that he found it to have hard-ish primers.  His AR10 and bolt rifles wouldn't set it off reliably, but his FAL worked great.  YMMV, etc.

Why 38 cents/rnd not reloadable surplus while commercial reloadable boxer primed available at $.50/rnd? PSA has American Eagle at .50/rnd from time to time, saw IMI and CBC at .50/rnd as well. I'm still shooting my .25/rnd surplus and plenty MKE from WalMart when they put on clearance at $9.95/box.

"bi-metal" means its a steel jacket plated with copper so the steel doesn't rust or come in contact with your riflings when fired. Yes you can shoot it without fear.

I don't get out to the local wallyworld at all...too far...

In any case, when I was going through my ammo stash last weekend I realized I bought 300 rounds of this stuff from AIM a few years back.  Different lot/year, the 300 rounds I found being from 1982.

I brought a box of 40 to the range with me today and shot it though my LRB M14 clone.  Honestly I was surprised...it's pretty damn accurate.  Target below was shot from 100 yards, using irons on a sandbag.  In no way do I even consider myself anything close to a "rifleman" these days...diminished eyesight and not enough range time has seen to that, so I consider this to be pretty good.  The hole in the 9 ring I'm calling a flyer...got distracted by the guy at the bench next to me.

The stuff that came in my. 50 Cal can looks brand new. It looks like a manufacture date of 1984.

Wow, this stuff really seems good... at least in that LRB M14 rifle.
At the current price point, I wouldn't be mad if it does 3 MOA out of my JRA BM59 or my FMAP FAL

that stuff is junk.

It barely runs a beltfed and accuracy in my ar10s is 4-6 moa at best.

The funny thing is that it shoots under 1" at 100 yards out of my dad's NM M1A.  But we mainly use it for blasting ammo :D

I SERIOUSLY doubt Buffman would lie about anything.... especially about ammo !!

He has nothing to gain by talking up ZQI , Lol

I have seen ZQI shoot far better then my PA10 groups.... that is why I wonder if the neck sealant is hardened up and needs to be broke loose.

:D I have nothing to gain, just mentioning my experiences. The same gun will shoot Rem 150 JSP at under 1" as well, but the PPU .308 white box was 3". These were only 3 shot groups. His M1A shoots heavier stuff ok, but likes the M80 ball weight range ammo. I believe his has the 1:12 twist.  The Malaysian surplus wouldn't do better than 3" out of my 1:10 16" bolt gun :\

Accuracy was great in one of my Armalites that I shot it in, that particular one gets fodder to shoot. It would not function though, it was a single shot with the gas opened all the way or closed all the way and everything in between. I'm glad that I only bought 3 boxes of it...

ETA I did pick up a couple of cases of Malaysian but I have not shot any of it yet..

I zeroed a PA 1-6 ACSS on my Armalite using some Malaysian M80. I zeroed the scope at 200 yards on a 5 inch steel plate. I was pleasantly surprised to see 5 rounds cloverleafed through the scope. I didn't have time to run down and actually look at the target because I had to go over to the next bay and teach. Overall I'm pretty damn impressed with this and probably will buy more.

Bought 1080 from SGA.  Went with the 540/50 cal can since a review up further said the 30 cal boxes were in fairly bad shape.

The 50 cal cans look nearly new.  Had to use a mallet to get lid open (only opened one) as the gasket was stuck (but gasket looked intact/functional once I had it open).  The boxes inside pristine and the brass in the box I opened has no tarnish etc.

Summary, haven't shot it but it looks good to go.

Just out of curiosity, did you go with the 540 or 300 round can?  I would be shooting an Armalite as well, 16 and 18 inch.  Thanks in advance.

540 rds, the box were a little brown and was not tarnished but it was not shiny like new commercial. The cans are in pristine condition...
