This thread made me realize that I can hardly even call myself an Amateur. I estimate I have gotten to the following, which I'm fairly pleased with because I only started stockpiling this year. I'm way late in the game but it's my new hobby and I tend to go all in 100% when I get into a new hobby.
22lr- 5k 9mm- 4k .40- 1k .223- 4k .308- 1k I've started reloading in the last month so I've tried to stock up on reloading supplies also but the initial investment into all the reloading gear was substantial, but I have enough supplies to load around 4k .223 I'm trying to stay patient and realize its going to take a long time, just a little bit at a time. Not married, no kids, just 1 choc lab to eat up funds so just about every spare dollar is going towards the goal. I got a fairly lengthy hardware list as I still need to finish a couple builds I'm in the middle of as well as a couple nice 1-6 scopes I've had my eye on. Also have been eyeing a CZ Bren or the desert tecu MDR. It is just a never ending list and I don't have the fattest wallet so it will be baby steps for the most part. Hopefully I'll post some pics soon although its just going to remind me of being an 8 year old about to shower in the men's locker room after seeing a lot of the pics in this thread. |

View Quote Just a suggestion abstain from buying the scopes for now focus on finishing your builds and stocking up on components. Scopes are notgetting banned anytime soon. I shudder to think what ammo/component prices will be if hillary wins. |

Passed 50k earlier this year. Only have .22, 5.56, 9mm and 300BLK in significant quantities. 750-1000 in 12ga and .45.

I feel like that is consolidate obviously my main focus is 223 and 9mm everything else is basically extra sure I got some 308 and 762x39 but I have no intentions of stacking thousands of rounds of 30'06 when I shoot about 4 shells out of it a year...

Your ammo fort looks good. Some people have never heard of variety , and may have no spice in da life. Consolidation is key Stock up on what you shoot For me it's .223/5.56 9mm .22lr for the grandkids 12ga Plus it's a lot easier to keep track of what you have that way |

Yep that's here I am, I would like to hav more 22 on hand but I refuse to overpay for it, but my 9mm took a hit since I don't shoot 22 anymore since it's hard to find at a good price. Don't really stack 12 gauge to high because of pure space I only have 1 rifle that shoots 762x39 and I have 1 ar10 since the 308
|
|
|
After my next 500 rounds comes in (later this week) I'll be sitting right at about 2700+/- of .223/5.56 and about 2500 of 9mm. I'm finally getting around the point where I can afford to pick it up more often. For a little while there my finances were struggling and I couldn't afford to stock. Now that I can I've been stocking as much as I can afford to.

New guy here, but long time ammo hoarder.
I've got 15K rounds on hand in the calibers I regularly shoot: 9mm 5.56 7.62x39 My practice is to rotate my stock to keep it at a minimum of 15K in these calibers. I immediately replace what I shoot. I've got it stored in a climate controlled fairly roomy storage room under the stairs in our basement, with everything kept off the floor by at least a foot, special heavy duty shelving, and dehumidier and heating rods keeping it all at a consistent temperature and low humidity. Do I quality as an ammo whore, or not? |

Here, you are not an ammo whore until you have a warehouse full of ammo with hundreds of pallets full of all calibers. I'm not even sure if sgammo's full warehouse would be acceptable here. By the way great start. A lot of folks have a lot less. A few have more. Buy what you are happy with. |
