One bad thing about reloads in the Ar is KABOOMS. It only take one fuck up to do it.

I'm interested in learning to handload for my AR's because I enjoy creating accurate loads for my other rifles as well as testing various bullets for accuracy and performance on game.  I have some Barnes TSX in 53 grain and 70 grain that will be tested for accuracy and terminal performance.  I expect them to work as well in the AR as they do in the bolt rifles.

Also just in case of future shortages/bans, etc. it sure seems like a good idea to be able to fall back on some experience handloading and to know what powder, bullet, brass combo works.  Being new to AR's I have been using only store bought ammo and have 1k+ on hand but in the event of restricted access to buying more I'll feel much more comfortable knowing what to do with saved/scrounged brass. YMMV

The only reason FMJ is more popular than 5.56 pressure TAP ammo is price and availbility.  There are no soft point rounds that perform as well in tissue as 75 grain 5.56 TAP.  Why reload soft points when you can just buy 5.56 pressure OTM mamo instead unless you want a dedicated barrier round?  At that point Id be looking for for 62 grain TBBC Federal loading and not the 60 grain partition.
