Well I went to Walmart in Plover, Wi today, and I purchased the last seven boxes they had on the shelf.  I asked them about the value packs, and they indeed confrmed that they had been deleted from the system.
So I figured I would contact a 9 other Walmarts within 60 miles of me, and the ones that did have some left, had all marked the prices up effective today to $9.98 a box for the Winchester .223 55gr full metal jacket packes.
I was lucky to hit this one Walmart before the prices had gotten jacked up to $9.98.  So those of you who are interested in purchasing this ammo, better stop and look now.  Its either going away, or going up to almost 10 bucks.

I went and bought some today as well at it was $7.73. The Wal-Marts in my area (Colorado) have not heard anything about  the item being discountinued and I asked three of them in the last week.

This "deleted" thing pops up from time to time.  One thing that you'll note is that the Wally World computer "deletes" things that do not turn over a suffifcient numbers or in a long time or that global updates show it cannot restock reliably.

Invariably WWB ammo gets restocked, even when it show "deleted" on the computer/secret decoder scanner.

My local Wally has shown it to be deleted for the last 2 years, yet they always have a stock of 10-12 on the shelf weekly.

Here in Texas at my Walmart. I went to buy some yesterday at lunch, and they were out and didn't have any to sell at $7.73. Went back today to see if it was in, and the still didn't have any, but today the ammo they didn't have was $9.98. They said it went up this morning.

I just bought five boxes at my WallMark's for $7.73 each in Southeast Texas.  Supply and demand.  If we will buy them out every time they get ten or so boxes in, they assume that we will buy similar quantities at $9.98.  And what 5.56 loads can you get for $4.99 a box???

That's why I said what 5.56 loads can you get for $4.99/box.  I can't get any 5.56 loads for that much.  If you can get 5.56 for $4.99/box or less, buy all you can afford now...

Up to $9.98 in the local Walmart.

My local Wally hasnt had it in 3 weeks now.I`m going to have to go check the next store 15 mins. south of me later today.Another kinda krazy thing.the local Meijers here don`t have any 5.56/.223 at all.The worker there said that they had to clear out room for"spring"and the only ammo on the shelves were mainly shotgun.

My local Wally world had 5 boxes, still $7.73/box.

I asked for all five and got that wierd "look" from the sales girl.

Without asking me anything but knowing what she was thinking I just said
"That is a pretty good price on .223 ammo that is why I want all of it."

She said ok, then gave me the ammo and said I could pay at the front.

Go figure....

The local Wally world out here in Gresham, Oregon told me that the .223 was deleted as well.  I picked up 4 boxes last week @ $7.73/box, some 9mm @ $11.24/100rd box, and some .45 @ $19.73/100rd box.

Last night...is when they told me the .223 was deleted, except for the varmint packs, but also....ALL of the WWB has gone UP in price  9mm is up to $12.57/100rd box, and the .45 went up to $20.72  The reason, they said - for whatever that is worth, is Winchester going out of biz  Rumor

So I'll be out and about today in search of....on the plus side....Fisherman's Marine Supply here in the Portland area still has the Win Q3131 for $4.24/box.

I just bought 3 cases (10 boxes in case) at one of the new Wal Marts on the outskirts of town. The lady told me that Winchester had been sold but didn't know anything about a price increase. I hit this store about 2 weeks ago and cleaned them out of about 7 boxes.

Just a quick question, but why Winchester white box? Is it really good shooting ammo? I used to buy ammo at Wally world, like their winchester 9mm 100 round box for something like $11.50 each, but then I started mail ordering ammo, it's easier to take your time online and have it shipped to you door. The price you pay for shipping is offset by not having to drive to Walmart or stand in line at the check out. I just bought some Federal AE @ $3.92 / box of 20 and some remington UMC @ $3.69 / box of 20 .

This WInchester (40 round Value packs) is made IN ISRAEL. It shoots better than any ammo in 3 of the weapons I own until I get to high end black hills. I did see some at a sporting good store a few minutes ago in 20 round white boxes marked Made in Israel but it was like 4.99 or 5.99 .

Bill- 9.98 (plus tax) for 40 rounds is 25 cents a pop or 250 per thou. I wish I had kept my 05 Midway catalog to see how much they jacked it up. '06 catalog is right at 25 cents a round. Or 250 per thousand, which is what XM193 is going for (when you can find it).

I'm going to cruise the WalMarts here. If I can find .223 for 7.50-8.00 I'll buy. If they have it marked up to 10+ they can keep it.

It's looking more and more like I'm going to have to add .223 to my reloading setup if I want to keep shooting the AR.

I guess this is what everyone gets for doing the stupid buy out all of the ammo at Wal-Mart day.  They see an increase in demand and figure why not raise the price.  You reap what you sow, I guess.

Ive just loaded up on over 4K of this stuff this past week (stopped at several Wal Marts that are right on I-75/I-10 and bought al they had during a road trip too see family), and for about $202 OTD (we have a high sales tax here in FL) per 1000, I think its a good deal.  Factory fresh, great brass, and the Israeli's put a nice sealant on it.  Its my preferred plinking ammo of choice since I dont put Wolf thru my AR's, and allows me to save the LC and WCC M855, the Q3131 & A, the Hirtenberger, the Malaysian M193, the FED M193, all my BH stuff, etc etc etc for a rainy day.  I hope it stays at the current $7.73 here in FL until I find even a few more cases.  Out of 500 or so rounds Ive fired so far, they have all went bang and produced perrty good groups at 100M (under 2 inches with iron sights).  I will hate to see it go / go up in price.  But if it does get to close to $10 a value pack, I'll just buy Q3131 from Sports Authority (just about the same price, if IT stays at 4.99 a box around here).

Unsolicited advice: never take ANY advice from "The lady at walmart".

For what it is worth: Winchester is not making firearms now, they are still going strong with ammo production. I used to live near the plant in Alton, Illinois, and that place will be operating for years and years.
