I had tried some Q3131 a few years ago and it sucked in my gun. Nothing but short stroking. I remember posts on here with everybody saying the "white box" winchester was crap.

Now it is great stuff.  Abybody have the same experience? Is the newer Q3131 much better?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I think it had to do with production runs in 1999?

ALL WIN Q3131 IS GOOD! Have have shot tons of 1999 several lots no problem!

Even Chuck Santoes  50yrd ZERO!!!! told me at one time HE never had any types of problems with 1999!

I have still 1999 Q3131 I saved because its a bit hotter than the Q3131A

Q3131A is good as well!

Im glad WIN is making it in the good ole USA 3270fps! I wish there was MORE Q3131

What happened then? Back around 2000-2002 I was posting here with my problems I had with Q3131, eveybody said it was crap. But praised Q3131A/IMI M193. Loads of complaints about short stroking. Anybody here remember this?

Not exactly bullshit. I couldnt get this stuff to shoot in my AR. Its a DCM model which has a tighter 223 rem chamber. The Federal AE and good mil surplus stuff worked fine, but Q3131 wouldnt even cycle, nothin but short stroke.

Is there anybody here who has the same happen or is it just my gun?

Don't shoot 5.56 in a .223 gun. It's bad juju.

The problems in 1999 were not BS.

ther has been some reports  that Lots of 1999 were to Hot!

That is correct.  SOME lots were hot some were not.

Neither you nor Chuck has shot rounds from every Lot made in 1999.  There are lots that were way too hot (lot numbers are listed in the Ammo FAQ on MD-AR15.com).  I've shot good Q3131 from 1999 and I've shot BAD Q3131 made in 1999.

If you head to the Documents section of MD-AR15.com you'll find spreadsheets of various chrony tests I've done of ammo.  One of them is from a 'Hot Lot' (PN02) from 1999.  That lot would consistantly pop primers and have extreamly high MV readings (averaged 100fps FASTER than spec - some rounds were as much as 140fps too fast - even the slowest round was 29fps faster than spec).

Myself Id rather have US made M193 AMERICAN MADE!!!!

Given the consistancy I've found with the IMI I'd rather have it.  I've also found the American made brass seems to be softer and builds up more flakes under the extractor.

I was on another site and was suprised to come across this:

http://www.thegunzone.com/556v223.html

According to the page the Winchester Q3131 is exactly the same as the M193 produced for the military under contract from the US gov. It also states that Q3131A is also the same, produced by IMI as a subcontractor for Winchester.

Now, I knew they were similar, but didnt think they were one in the same.
