Ordered two cases of ammo. Cousin purchased last two cases in WV from local store and shipped them out to me for about $225 per 1000 case. Upon receiveing them today, I noticed that it is not Q3131A but Q3131. I know the difference between the two, IMI makes the Q3131A, but what about quality, is this still a good deal? Cases are all date stamped 05, wcc, with nato cross.

I'd be happy myself, but then again I've never shot the A stuff.

I don't understand what you are stating by refrencing this link. Q3131 is seconds? If that is the case so are Federal xm193 !!!

Ammunitionstore has two different prices - Q3131A (which is totally drying up) for $240/K.  Q3131 is $210/K.

Both should be the same spec.... but after going through so many cases of the "A" without a single hiccup.... I would always prefer it.  Wont be long and we wont see it ever again.... potentially, unless Winchester/Olin and IMI re-establish their contract.

Although I think and Know my 1999 Q3131  is a bit hotter than Q3131a

 1999 Q3131  26.2grs of ball type powder

Q3131A 25.8 ball type powder

Done on my Blue scale

That means nothing.

Velocity is what matters... difference in the burn rate of the lot of powder they used for that ammo, could EASILY make that lower charged Q3131A much hotter ammo.  Measuring the weight of the powder charge is interesting, but doesnt mean much in terms of examining which will perform better in the AR15 weapon system.

Just enjoy the ammo and rest easy at night knowing that...

BOTH SHOULD BE BANNED FROM CIVILIAN USE!
