What is the maximum distance effectiveness (still penetrate more than 12”) of pistol cartridge such as 9mm, .40 and .45 if shoot from something like CX-4 Storm or 9mm AR? 50 yards, 100yards?

Is there any chart I can find somewhere of ammunition tested at that kind of distance?

Far beyond the range you could hit anything with it.  If all you care about is penetration that is not going to be a problem for any load because as they expand less they penetrate more.  By the time the vleocity got to the point youd would not penetrate 12" you would be lobbing in mortars. lol

Troy,

Why not? Why can't use ,say, a .357 Mag cartridge loaded with rifle powder in a long barreled revolver?

Thanks
