I have read that there were some problems with 99 headstamp. If so was it the Q3131 or Q3131A that had the problem? Also, is this the reason KY Imports has Q3131A available, because shooters are leary of the 99HS. Should I stay away from this ammo or is it acceptable. Thanks.

Q3131 was the problem, not the "A" version. IIRC, most or all of the Q3131A, was made by Israel using Winchester brass. I was one of those who found Q3131, to be one of the hottest, most accurate commercial rounds I ever used. Funny you bring this up - yesterday, I found 17 boxes of 1999 Q3131, buried in the back of my safe.

Got to clean those nests out behind the guns ever once in awhile. Always a treasure there.

I asked this same question about a month ago. A helpful person on this board pointed me to the maryland ar shooters web site. The site posts the lots of 1999 Q3131 that "may" have issues.
Happy shooting.

Where on the site do I find that info? There is no search or ammo section like here.

HERE, I had to go to MSN.com and find it in their groups search

Thanks to Marylands AR15 Shooters Site.

"However there have been problems with some lots, mostly made in 1999."

"These potentially 'bad' lots have been identified as: PD50, PD90, PF40, PC22, PG62, PF52, PF11, PL31, & PN02."

This was Q3131 ammo, not Q3131A.
