my M16 carbine is about to finish up its supply of the good old south african 5.56 in battle packs that so many of us picked up a while back. i've tried PMC and PMP commercial and it seems a bit weak. is the winchester whtie box 55gr fmj a good choice for general purpose training and shooting? i hear federal is also good, but have not tried it...

any RKI's who shoot a lot of full auto or otherwise hammer down types care to share what you like and why?

TIA

I have been shooting the Federal XM193 lately. You don't have to worry about this stuff being weak, it easily meets the M193 spec. My personal favorite is Q3131A, but is seems harder to find these days.

SA M1A3, Fed XM193, Win Q3131A. Have heard good things about the accuracy of the Winchester value pack 45GN JHP ammo sold at Walmart too.

I've fired XM193, Q3131a, Hirt, various SS109's, and Swiss GP90 through both my carbine and a target AR. The Swiss GP90 is by far the most accutate non-match ammo I've ever seen. I've used the GP90 in reduced course NRA matches, and get the same scores I shoot with match ammo.

Wolf; cheap, reasonably accurate, and.. never a problem.
