Preparing for the start of dove season, I am (once again) shocked that .410 ammo costs twice as much as 12 gauge ammo....

$8.64 / box @ Wal Mart
$8.00 at the local gun shop

I can't wait 'till the young-un is ready to move up to a 20 or a 12.

Until then, does anybody know where I can get .410 #6's and #7-1/2 cheap??

Been there, done that. .410 is a bit trickier than 12 or 20, but there is obviously a cost advantage to reloading it. I even have the .410 dies for a MEC reloader. I just don't have a MEC anymore, and am unwilling to shell out for a new one. (I've been using a Lee Load-all to load 12's lately) Does anybody have a MEC that they want to sell cheap?

Plinker, I use a lot of .410 ammo. As you know it is not cheap. Wal-Mart here in New York sells Remington .410 3" mag loaded with #4, #6 or #7 1/2 shot for $8.67 a box of 25. They also sell Remington .410 GAME Load 2 1/2" in #6 only. These go for $5.97 for a box of 20. The 2 1/2" #6 pattern very well considering how little shot they have in them, about 112 pellets. Most gun stores around here get $10.00 a box for .410 ammo. MIKE.

Plinker, I forgot, try www.ableammo.com, Estate target .410 2 1/2" $5.49 a box of 25 or Estate hunting 3" mag $6.39 a box of 25. I have bought from them several times. MIKE.

Thanks Mike, I'll check them out. BTW, does anybody know of a good place to get reloadable .410 hulls? (Preferably Win AA's)
