I just bought two, 20 round boxes of this Federal ammunition. Each plan brown box is marked, "XM193 20 Cartridges 5.56mm M193 Ball." They are 55 grain, have a 2001 mfg. date and are very dirty looking. I'm kinda new to the wonderful world of 223 and was wondering if anyone had any experience with this ammo? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

I sell cases of the stuff. Works great, no problems even in tight match chambers. Decent accuracy too!

Only two 20 round boxes?? Go for 2-20 1000 round cases if the stuff shoots 3" groups or better!! Big Al

Federal Ammunition is owned by ATK, which has the current contract to run the Lake City Ammunition Plant for the Military. XM193 is military spec ammo, boxed for the civilian market. New M193 from the L.C. plant to us is a no-no thanks to Klinton. New XM193 from Federal is ok for us. Same thing. Should shoot good. You take it out, and tell us how it did. How was that Troy? [peep]

I have used a lot of it and I am very happy with it. The Winchester *USA* Q3131 and Q3131A ammunition is good stuff too,
