Somebody probably hand linked the stuff.
The LC orange tip stuff I have is LC-89, with the NATO "+". I also have a few boxes of the WIN Military tracer, plain brown box, labeled as follow: 20 CATRIDGES 5.56 MM TRACER M856 WCC 87K040-008 OLIN CORPORATION The brass is std 3131 brass, WCC-XX headstamp. |

Winchester/Olin had the contract to run Lake City in the 90s. They were allowed to make ammo for commercial sales with their own headstamp (WCC) on the Lake City equipment as part of that contract, which they did. Q3131 (marked "WCC 95", etc.) was really LC M193 with Winchester's headstamp.
When they sold this ammo for the Abu Dhabi contract, it was cheaper to buy existing LC ammo than it would have been to pay for a whole run of it, when they didn't need very much to complete the contract. -Troy |

Troy,
Do you have any more info on that " Abu Dhabi" contract ammo. Is is good ammo? I have seen 50cal. cans of it at a gunshow and was wondering about purchasing some??? Buy or pass? The ammo that I saw was linked for the HK 23 MG. Are those links compatable to our SAW? Thanks... |

A lot of the Abu Dhabi ammo was water-damaged at some point, which is why it's back in the US and on the surplus market. Some of it is fine, though, so take a close look.
I don't know about the links; you might want to check with Steyr AUG to see if those HK links work with the SAW. -Troy |
