Hi All

I am looking for some suggested loads that will
run a 55 grain projectile at or below 2000 fps
and will still function my AR

Thank you

They mod squad will probably harass you for not posting this in the reloading forum... But anyway..... WHY????

To reduce the damage to the backstop at my local indoor range.

Gonna be hard to do. Small charges of faster powder (Blue Dot, etc.) will get the velocity, but won't cycle the action. I doubt you'll find a load that will cycle a standard rifle at that low a velocity/pressure. How about a softer buffer spring? I'm not suggesting it, just wondering.

Go back a couple editions of Hornady... there was "reduced load" info given for the 55gr FMJ. Used one of the odd IMR powders that comes 8oz to the can. I did load some about 13-14 yr ago, it will not cycle, just goes bang. IBTL

That would be 4759. Anyway, you'll not get substantially reduced loads and action cycling without modifying the weapon. That would take some balancing, but it could be done.
