All shooting was done through my RRA CAR UTE. 16" non-chromed Wilson barrel 1 in 9" twist. Average of 10 shots, with hi-low velocity difference. Chrony was set 10' in front of muzzle.

Average of 10 shots, with the difference from high to low velocity.

Winchester 55gr 40rnd bulk pack - 2856fps 147fps

Winchester 62gr - 2786fps 84fps

S&B 55gr - 3076fps 62fps

Federal/LC XM193 - 55gr 3094fps 39fps

PMC 55gr - 2720fps 150fps

Rem-UMC 55gr - 2857fps 59fps

Silver Bear 62grHP - 2907fps 108fps

DynaMax 55gr (reloads) 2946fps 156fps

My gun prefers the PMC, with the S&B a close second. The Silver Bear stuff ejected quite a bit further away & to the back compared to all other ammo. I suspect this is due to the steel cases. The Wal-Mart Winchester 55gr 40rnd bulk pack ammo had the poorest accuracy by a wide margin. What truely amazed me is that @100yds, all the ammo had point-of-impact (POI) very close. I mounted a Tasco 30mm Red-Dot for the testing.

Hey RussB,

What was the ambient temperature during your testing? I assume a 223 chamber in the Wilson instead of a 5.56? Thanks.

RRA uses Wilson barrels and Wylde chambers. It's a 223/5.56 hybrid and safe to shoot 5.56 with.

RRA's website claims my gun (LE Tactical CAR UTE) has a .223/5.56 chamber, NOT the Wylde chamber.

Temp today was 62 degreesF and cloudy. I fired the Rem-UMC, Silver Bear & Win 62gr ammo. The rest was fired when it was 82 degreesF & sunny.

I'm almost positive that I saw a discussion of this about a month ago. Same gun, person called RRA and they said that yes, it is indeed the same Wylde chamber. For some reason they had typed it up differently on their website. It really wouldn't make any sense to use a different chamber on one rifle than on all their others. But I might be wrong...

Thanks for doing the testing, BTW. I noticed the velocity for the Silver Bear you measured. That's pretty darn hot for a 62gr load out of a 16" barrel. I'll have to buy some at the next gun show...
