Marked 5.56 MAL 4/83 I take it this is some old ammo
I just got 80 rounds cheap and was a bit curious
the box.
looks new and still shiny

other box markings
20 Butir
5.56mm
Ball M193
Lot 20 Mal 4-83

any thoughts

It is Malaysian surplus M193 produced in April of 1983. Good stuff edited for spelling.

got it at the shop i hang out at 80 rounds were like 20 bucks if i remember correctly

You got screwed. You can get 1,000 rounds of new production M193 for way less. You're paying $200 for 800 rounds of 20 year old surplus.

Sorry, 555R, Velocity is correct! Live and learn! You should have absolutely no trouble finding great ammo for less than $0.20 per round. Ammoman has that delivered. Other places are even cheaper, although Eric's service can't be beat!

800 rds. for $200 is the same as 80 rds. for $20. You know, division? He probably used 800 in order to compare it to a case price which should be between $150-200 for 1000 rds. of M193. At least you didn't waste too much money. [:)] If you want plinking ammo, check out Aimsurplus.com. They have new production PMP ammo for a great price! As I said before, there are better deals on M193 out there as well. Don't worry, when I first got started, I paid too much for ammo as well!
