I've put 100 or so rounds of Q131A through my Mini-14, but have almost always been choosing to feed my Mini cheap, low powered .223 till now.

I have a big amount of LC M193 to shoot through, and though I'm confident it will feed, I'm concerned about the higher power of these cartridges being safe and/or causing wear/breakage problems in my Mini-14.

Would just like to hear some assurance from other Mini-14 owners who've run many K of high powered 5.56 through their Mini and still have their guns, and heads, intact.

I don't think it's a problem. I read in the past that the mini14 has a 5.56 NATO chamber. All I have ever shot out of mine is Q3131A. Now, getting a decent mag at a decent price is a problem...

I tried Q3131A through a Mini-14 and it was a jam-o-matic.

Everyother ammo the guy has ran worked fine, but the milspec stuff was too hot (high velocity) I believe.

I never had any problems with either 3131A or the lake city when I had my Mini 14.

I have fired both through my Mini-14 SS ranch rifle without a problem.  Granted, I've only fired maybe 100 rounds of each. I have noticed no ammo related failures.  Well, my wife did shoot the sand bag the rifle was resting on but I guess I can't blame the ammo for that little faux pas now can I?

Regards,
Gary

I've never had a problem. THat's all i fired through mine up until a few months ago. I will never put wolf through mine though. If you are concerned, give me a price and i'd be interested in getting that M193 off your hands.

Another tip: Aftermarked Mini-14 mags are often crap. If you take a green AR follower, and a dremel, and fit the follower to the mag, it will fuction flawlessly.

At one time I had a Mini-14. It had a 30rd USA magazine.. Oddly enough the *icky* magazine actually worked.. I put about 600-700rds of Q3131A through it and the rifle was flawless, right through to the day I sold it. Oh, and I never once cleaned the chamber, but I did take the entire rifle apart after every range outing and clean everything up.. It was so easy to field strip, why not?

Only ammo my Mini-14 ever had a problem with was the surplused Santa Barbara SS109 from AIM.

IMI M193, SA M1A3, and Win Q3131A all work great.

NEVER had a prob with 3131, 3131A, or the South African I've run through mine.  About 2,500+ rounds, bore and chamber haven't been cleaned ever (why bother on an $8 bbl?).  Have fun and shoot that sucker!

Never a bobble with anything except Q3131.
