I am seeing some good deals on Q3131A at my local Galayns and was wondering what the shelf life of this ammo is. I normally shoot about a 1000rds in a 6 month period so was thinking of having 2000rd+ in reserve which would be about
18 months to 2 years worth

Life span is in decades.

Heat & humidity cause decay.

I have read that corrosive ammo actually has a storage life of up to 80 years, which explains why we all have been reliably shooting 1942 Turk 8mm through our Yugo Mausers

Ideally, you want to store your ammo in ammo cans (make sure the seal is good) at 60F or lower.  -Troy

How can you tell if the "seal is good"?  The cans that I have seem to be in really good condition and the seals have a very visible line where the can "goes into" the seal.

How do you define good?  What do you look for?

That'll work.  All my cans are in tip-top shape according to your criteria.  Now, all I gotta do is buy some vaseline and they will all be good to go.

THANKS, TROY!

The primers used in corrosive military ammo are said to be more stable than the non-corrosive stuff.  Maybe, but I picked-up several bandoleers of Korean M1 .30 Carbine, ('80's manufacture) and one bando turned out to be 1954 Lake City!! (all US made carbine is non-corrosive)
I figured this stuff is probably tired or dead...BUT it shot great and chronoed 1950 + fps.(Mil. Spec)
