With the release of the new 3-lug mount from Silencerco that works with B&T 3-lug barrel, who makes B&T style 3-lug .45 acp barrel for AR?
Thanks |

I've never seen a .45 with a 3-lug mount. The closest was the UMP, but that has a different QD mount system.

Closest I can think of is using something like the Griffin Armament .45 3lug adapter on a regular threaded barrel

Interesting.
Best bet would probably be Macon Armory. You could also contact CMMG. |

Been researching this myself. Short answer, I don't believe a .45 AR barrel currently exists that has B&T spec 3-lugs. Two options would be to buy an APC barrel and machine an AR barrel extension onto it (if even possible) or have a custom barrel made from scratch with B&T spec 3-lugs. Either choice would be $$$
I'm surprised SiCo would make an adapter for only one specific firearm so I'm hoping it's just a matter of time before we see AR barrels and/or screw-on adapters with B&T spec 3-lugs. I like the compact size of the SiCo mount and would get one if a matching barrel existed. I will prob go the Griffin Armament route and use their screw-on 3-lug adapter and mount. They have the same specs as an HK 10mm/.40 cal 3-lug barrel which is more narrow than the B&T but it's apparently bored out for 45. |

What length would y'all like.....I was thinking something that put the lug in front of a 7 inch handguard?????

There is a local machine shop here in Oregon that makes 3lugs I can see if they make the 45 variant compatible with the SiCo mount.. going rate for their other 3 lugs is $65. I will ask and report.

For what it's worth, the internet says B&T lug dimensions are the same as 9mm just with a larger OD forward of the lugs (0.6365") View Quote |

I think the internet is wrong.........I have seen 9mm adapters slightly smaller than the front behind the lugs.....and the suppressor was extremely unstable......Hopefully the fine folks at Silencerco will cooperate so we can get this right without a bunch of development....I'd love to make this a feature on the shorter Macon Armory barrels. Thanks for the info though....I will definitely research as much as possible..... View Quote Yeah I'd love to see their spec sheet or even B&T's if they would release it. This barrel would be a fantastic option for lots of folks! |

I just emailed a member asking if he had a micrometer and could take some measurements....I have the 3 lug and form the pictures I have seen you may be correct with the lug dimensions being the same, and the barrel being enlarged before and after the lugs.....If I can get an example...I have a micrometer to measure diameter on three points....as well as an optical comparator to really nail down the dimensions.

Rudy you've probably already read these but here's where I found those numbers:

Did we find someone who can make an adapter for this? When i emailed SilencerCo they told me that they dont plan to produce .45 3-lug thread-on adapters that will fit their 3-lug device.
|
|
any luck on this? sounds like there is quite a market for B&T compatible 45 3-lugs ... particularly for the UMP/USC crowd.
|
|
What thread pitch are you guys looking for?
.578x28? 16x1 LH? |
|
I'd like to see one in .578x28 for attachment to a CMMG Guard barrel.

Rudy - Any updates on making a complete B&T spec 3-lug AR barrel?

Also, any chance of a 'navy' style adapter? I'd love to have both a 3-lug and thread-on option.

Griffin 3-lug 45 mount and Griffin 3-lug barrel adapter. You can use the Griffin 45 suppressor too of course. But I also found out that I can use the Silencerco Omega 45K with the Griffin 3-lug mount, so that's my plan. Another guy used a Rugged Suppressor 45 Obsidian with the Griffin 3-lug mount as well. Apparently these companies are all linked. But yeah the Silencerco 45 3-lug mount won't work with the Griffin 45 3-lug barrel adapter. It will only work on the B&T APC 45 pistol. Maybe one day someone will come up with a thread on adapter that will work... But for now the Griffin mount and adapter will work together.

how would we order? What does the timing look like? this is for the B&T style 3-lug adapter that would work with the sico 45 3-lug assembly right? View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes |

I talked to Mark at TROSUSA a few days ago. He will be making the .45 3 lug B&T pattern adapters sometime in the first part of this year. I have a couple of his 3 lug barrels plus several of his adapters and they are a work of art. Stand easy.

Yes, sadly, I got word today that he is a complete flake, and is not making them as he is “retired”. Sorry guys. Found an alternative, hope this works. https://www.griffinarmament.com/45-Caliber-3-Lug-Adapters-p/3lug45.htm View Quote I was about to get Griffin's 45 coupler and adapter but decided not to after getting one of their 9mm couplers. They've sent me two different ones now, and both have been out of spec. Plus I've read about others having issues with Griffin 45 couplers & adapters not locking up correctly. Sucks too because they look very well made. Will just wait patiently for TROS... |
