can the 9mm hammer be used for .223?  or can a ar15 hammer be used with a 9mm upper with a ramped bolt?  or do i need to get a m16 hammer that has had the sear catch cut off? Thanks

Really? I had always been told you couldnt use the 9mm hammer with a 5.56 upper.........good to know, as I can get another upper for my 9mm rifle now

You need an un-notched AR15 hammer (basically a M16 hammer with the sear tail bobbed off).  A full auto 9mm uses a regular M16 hammer.  If you use a notched AR15 hammer in a semi auto 9mm it can get hung up on the hammers notch.  The newest style AR hammers done have this notch because many AR15 companies are using 'enhanced' carriers that are light M16 carriers and a fully shrouded on the front end.
