I have the chance to pick up a Ceiner kit cheap. Is there a difference between the AR15 and M16 versions? If so, what should I look for. I don't want to be stuck with any NFA related parts.

Thanks

M16 kit has a debounce weight and sear trip. Not a problem if your kit's semi or full, since the parts won't work to make a semi full auto without a full auto lower of some sort. Some people choose to use the debounce weight in semi, and the sear trip will do absolutely nothing.

How does the ATF view it? A M16 bolt carrier won't work by itself either, but they seem to frown on that!! I just don't want to get tagged. Will the debounce weight or the sear trip be apparent to me if I look at it? Thanks again Circuits.

You can remove either part easily. The sear trip is a spring steel piece that just clips onto the bolt carrier assembly. The anti-bounce weight looks like a short piece of pipe cut lengthwise down the middle with a notch cut in one end. It just lays on top of the rails, under the recoil spring. BTW, Colt only makes one bolt for both semi and full-auto 9mm. In other words, every semi 9mm Colt sells now comes with a full-auto bolt, so having a full-auto bolt alone in your gun does not make it full auto or illegal.

Thanks for the replies guys. You can never quite understand where the ABC guys are coming from with this stuff. I wonder how they could defend pinching someone with a M16 carrier and no other parts vs. someone with the same type of 9mm carrier. Who knows. Thanks for painting the picture of the Ceiner unit for me. Sounds like the one for sale is an semi. Should be lots of fun for gunnutt jr.

Here's a pic of a Ciener in M16 config: Here's a pic of a Ciener sans the FA parts: Cut and paste this link for a short flick of my son dumping a 30rd mag thru my M4gery: http://www.geocities.com/fullautom4gery/gunstuff/cienerm16.mpg
