I bought this ban era A2 bushmaster a few weeks ago and wasn't sure what I wanted to do with it.

So I decided to turn it into a rifle, I ordered a light weight 20" barrel from Delton and installed it yesterday, man what a difference.

I haven't had an old bushmaster like this in a long time

Nice man.

20 inch rifle is best rifle.

Nice, that carbine was exactly my setup for Y2K
Please do a range report with the new delton.

I'm a big fan & now have 2 complete 20's & 1 in progress.
Very sweet , range report yet on the Delton barrel?
So...whatcha doin' with the useless old barrel & handguards?

I saw that exact rifle in a shop recently, but they want $600 for it...I think is too much. Once I replace the neutered parts with a new barrel/FSB, I'd have Colt money in it!

I test fired it Sunday and it worked flawlessly but I haven't been to the range with it yet, hopefully this weekend I can go. I sold the ban era barrel and hanguards in the EE for $100 and bought the new barrel from Del-Ton for $155, I already had rifle length gas tube and handguards sitting around.

There's something satisfying about un-banning a neutered rifle. Suck it, Clinton!

Looks nice.

I would say that you have upgraded to a very usable rifle. They didnt refer to the A2 as "The Cadillac of the battlefield" for nothing!

I have a Delton 1/9 HBAR barrel with chrome bore and chamber. So does my buddies son. They are well worth the money. You wont be disappointed.

Looks good

Im bumping an old thread to say I thought that serial number seemed close to my first AR (and it looked just like the one in the OP when I bought it back during the ban) so I grabbed it out of the safe and its about 50 numbers fewer than that one. Probably got assembled on either the same day or the day before yours.

The upper is long gone but the lower has served me well for many years now!

I've got one just like the OP's. Got it real cheap.
I already had a 20 inch barrel assembly. An hour after I got home, no more ban era rifle.

I would have to find a purple barrel to match my Bushhamster receiver.

I checked my old L-prefix  Brushhamster lower.  My serial is only off by 80K.  we are almost brothers.

You need thin glossy early handguards. Newer ones look too fat
