Just picked up a pristine Sporter Target. Preban and all grey. Best picture I could do until I can find a memory card for my real camera. Pictured with my West German 226.

Changed bits and pieces - most obvious is the hand guards (these are also Colts, but they do kind of look more authentic than the previous ones with which the Colt upper came with)

Alright, latest addition. I bought a (very expensive) original, 1983-ish Colt A2 grip for this one.
Surprisingly, it's different from contemporary ones from any maker. It's fatter - to begin with. Unexpected. Not sure if it shows even from the picture - I kind of see it now that I know. Bought it from Specialized Armament Warehouse. ETA: I am completely in love with this rifle. I have been for a while, but now that it looks and feels like this, it's perpetual honeymoon. I don't see any reason to not take more pictures of the same, when you love her so much.
ETA please notice once again how different it is the A2 grip. That is an original, 1983-ish A2 grip bought from Ken at Specialized Armament. Expensive, but worth it. Whether you realize it or not, it adds that subtle nuance that makes it way more original looking. It feels way different, too. Colt A2 Vintage Upper by SoloDallas, on Flickr |

In order to make it looks wise interesting, I got a vintage Insight Technology Beretta rail adapter and stuck the light on it. |

There's grips made now for the 1911 and the Beretta 92 that throw a rail up front. Pretty neat setup. Wondering if I can duplicate it in Legos.

Both the 727 and A2 above are nice. I like the BCP lower! Reminds me of a Balimoy A2 lower. |

There are only two kinds of people that understand Marines: Marines and the enemy. Everyone else has a second-hand opinion.

It's been neutered. There's no bayonet lug to go along with that sweet upper handguard.

A bayonet lug on that configuration wouldn't be usable in the least (too little space between the muzzle and gas block). It's got a heavy profile 16" barrel with rifle length gas (not just the mock concept with the mid gas). It's a really fun example of concepts that people thought would be great for ARs when I was younger that have gone by the wayside (or at least heavily improved).
