This particular unit was a one off prototype from the second U.S. AR-10 model,it has a early design bipod and a reinforced barrel end section in order to fire ENERGA anti-tank rifle grenades,as seen in the photo.

This prototype can be seen in this photo,in front of the #4 AR-10 mock-up lmg

The 12 Gauge Armalite Shotgun Photo - AR17 - what's the scoop with that?  It resembles an Ithaca 37 (which was a copy of a remington design) Aluminum receiver?

Lightweight, high-tech (for the time, at least), 2-shot 12-guage.
Decent info here.

Definitely different than an Ithaca 37!

The 12 gauge shotgun in the image it's not a AR-17,Armalite had the AR-9 that was a semi-auto 12-gauge with a long choke tube as the one in the image, this pump unit may bet what came before the AR-9.
