I was offered to buy a preban colt ar15 chambered in 7.62x39. He is the second owner and has never fired it. He’s had it a long time and says it looked like the original owner never fired it as well but can’t be 100% sure of it. And if he did, he said it doesn’t show any wear so lets assume its in excellent condition. From the little research I’ve done i believe the model number to be R6830? Anyone have an approximate value? Are there different variations of this rifle I should take a look at that might affect value?

Any info will be much appreciated.

That’s a parts upper. The shiny delta ring gives it away. The upper is a 604 worth the $350 range and the barrel is maybe the $750-$1000 range.

What is a minty fresh 604 bcg with chrome gas key worth?

Also a used vinyl acetate stock, 2 position tube, buffer and spring.

Thanks for the info. Do you think prices in this particular gun will rise in the future? I’m looking at this gun from an investment stand point and don’t plan on ever shooting it.

The market is extremely soft right now from what I’ve seen due to a few major collections being sold so now would be the time to buy. At least in my opinion

I've been going through some old stuff in my gun room and came across 2 older mags I would like to get some info and possibly a value on.

First is a 20 rd Colt mag. The floorplate is stamped

Cot AR-15

CAL 223

COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. INC.

HARTFORD, CONN U.S.A.
It has an odd color, Gray, smooth finish with a circled 1 on the lower left side.

Second is a 30 rd Colt mag. The floorplate is stamped

COLT AR-15

CAL. 5.56mm

COLT 'S FIREARMS DIVISION

COLT INDUSTRIES

HARTFORD, CONN U.S.A.
It has a dark green follower with 62665A in white letters and it looks like 62667 on the right side of the mag.

Thanks

Jerry

Hey Jerry,

I’m not up on the latest prices but both of those are collectible mags.

The circle 1 is from a very early SP1 I believe and the other is the first real generation 30 rounder after the “full curve”

Check here for more info but I would say probably $50 for either of them for anybody who’s looking and knows what they are.

(Quick answer: no) it's a forged FSB listed at cast FSB prices.

Is a surplus M16A1 front sight base worth selling or are they pretty much 'a dime a dozen'?

I bought a surplus A1 kit a few years ago but didn't need the FSB (the barrel that I bought, already had one installed). So it's just sitting around. Along with a Type E stock that I was given (looks like it had been sprayed flat black, I may try to strip it and see what's underneath).

I have these upper I'm thinking about selling.
I bought a group of firearms and there were a couple early SP1 type uppers in the group. I don't know know much about the early uppers. I've tried doing some research to learn more, there is a lot to digest. I trying to find out information and value of the uppers. Thanks

1. This Upper is a little darker. No forging marks under the rear sight, it does have a boxed C in front of the ejection port. Only marking I can find on the barrel is a faint C on the bottom of the barrel between the front sight/block and flash hinder. A1 birdcage flash hinder. Bore looks good.

2. This upper is more grey than the other. Has the C H forgings under the rear sight. C MP CHROME BORE marked barrel. A1 birdcage flash hinder

The first one looks like a late xm16e1 early m16a1 upper Colt marked the barrels with only “C” from 67-69 as far as value goes I’m not sure what the value would be, but if you do decide to sell it I might be interested (depending when you decide to sell it if you do) I have a late xm16e1 build planned with a demilled xm magwell, in the next couple months and this would go great with it.

A nice original duckbill just sold on Gun Broker for $155.  I have see sellers asking as much as $200.  Originals are unmarked.  The best copies are marked oi on the bottom (it is actually a capital I, and a lower case i, but it looks more like oi.

It is an early Air Force 604 carrier.  Kind of a short lived transitional carrier after the chrome slick side carrier, and before the parked carrier with forward assist notches used on later 604’s (even though 604’s never had forward assists). I found six of them at a gun show two weeks ago for $50 each - but I think that was a steal.  I believe that they normally retail for $100 to $150 each.

So I got these 2 together as 1 but separated them not sure if they are original to each other I assume they are.

Greetings everyone. i recently came into owning an older Preban Olympic Arms CAR-AR the receiver is stamped with the SGW in the cirlce and octagon. from looking up the serial number it appears to be from 1984-1985. can anyone help point me in a direction to find a value on this firearm? i know more about some of the current models and brands on the market, but i have very little knowlege on an older one like this. Any help would be appreciated!

A friend handed me a couple of what look like 602 upper yesterday. I do not have pictures (they are at my house, and I am at work). But they are in sealed (well, one was unsealed) plastic bags that I believe were marked with a 1982 date. So they look refinished. But they are stripped. I will try to get pictures tonight.

But assuming they are arsenal refinished stripped 602 uppers, any ideas on value? I want to build one out for myself--just want to know what I should offer him.

Can’t really help you without photos.  Otherwise, it is kind of like asking “what’s a VW worth” - too many variables to give an accurate answer

That is not a 602, it is a late 604.  In that condition it is worth about  $100.  If it was a 602, even in that condition, it would be worth about $500.

Thanks. What is wrong with the condition? Does it appear to be refinished? Or are you talking about the adhesive that has transferred from the bag to the receiver?

From the photo, it does not look chrome.  It looks like a phosphate carrier with no finish.  If that IS the case, it is worth about $125. If indeed it is chrome, then it would be worth about $400

Yes, those ARE indicative of an XM16E1 carrier, and they came in chrome (early and not common), and phosphate (late, and not uncommon).
