Anyone have pictures of what you have built? Didn't see any pictures in the picture thread. Looking for ideas for a fun gun.

Generally a dumb idea.  You lose a lot of velocity and make a huge fireball.  If you want a bullet that size and in a short package go with .300BLK...

I have no interest in having to buy a different round of ammo that I don't already buy, plus I have enough crap laying around to make one in .308. I just need to get one of my barrels cut down.

There’s a past thread on this subject

At 300 yards a 12.5 inch .308 has more velocity and energy then a .300 blackout at 100 yards in a 16 inch barrel

300 blackout shines suppressed but that’s about it vs a .308

.308 is very forgiving with barrel length

There’s lots of info on this subject if you research or you can grab a chrono and check it yourself

I just built a 12.5 inch .308 for this exact reason

This is bad information from someone who is into the boutique cartridges and yes I own both in multiple barrel lengths

If your doing a pistol build I recommend the SOB brace if photo bucket was working I would post pics of my build

300 BlkO out of 16 inch barrel using same 150 grain projectile

100yards = 1653 fps 910ft/lbs energy
200yards=1515 fps 765ft/lbs energy
300yards=1390fps 643ft/lbs energy

.308 out of 12.5 “ barrel

100yards=2269fps 1714ft/lbs energy
200yards=2097fps 1465ft/lbs energy
300yards=1933fps 1244ft/lbs energy

This info is archived on arfcom

Goodluck with your build

Here is mine. 12.5 inch barrel. Changed flash can to a surefire brake until I get the can for it. Has a Eotech on it too. I shoot 168 A-Max and 150 FMJ. Had a 10.5 inch barrel but changed it out to 12.5 when KAK had a sale on barrels. Helped with grouping. I have both 308 and 300BO. Each has its purposes.
308

Since I have 2 I am selling my spare this is what it looks like minus the brace and grip.

its a blast to shoot. it unleashes the gates of hell and works as a laxative
