I've googled and googled, but all I can come up with is actual stocks like the Troy, or PDW braces on 5.56's.

I have been looking at them for 5.56 and .300 BLK builds and have not come across one.

Might be a good idea to contact Maxim or SB

If you're looking for a brace, the only one that looks like it'll work is the SB Tactical SBPDW brace. The description says:
  • Compatible with mil-spec bolt carrier groups and carbine buffers
If that's correct, then you'd just need to use the short 2.5" DPMS 308 buffer and carbine spring for it to work.

If you're looking for a PDW type stock, all the one I've seen that collapse really short use either a proprietary bcg or buffer or both. There is the Armaspec XPDW stock. It attaches to a standard mil-spec buffer tube and would need the same short 2.5" DPMS 308 buffer and spring to work. It doesn't collapse as far as the regular PDW stocks but gives you the look.

*Disclaimer*  I haven't used either of the products and have concluded they will work from the information listed on the manufacturers websites. If you choose to go with either one, you should call or email the manufacturer to verify the information listed.

Thanks for those links.

I'm trying to stick with the longer AR10 buffer tube so I can use my 8.5oz carbine buffer. The shorter buffers that allow one to use 5.56 carbine buffer tubes aren't heavy enough for reliable function when suppressed in my experience so far.

I wonder how heavy the buffer is that they used...

But that is a great pic at what I'm aiming for

An adjustable gas block will be even more reliable than a heavy buffer, and allow you to use the pdw setup

the pdw brace works great and the rails don't interfere with the controls
