The 22 Carbine is a 30 Carbine case necked down to 224 dia. offering about 2800fps with a 40 gr bullet. Somewhere between my 22 Hornet and my AR.
The reason I ask is that my Hornet is always with me for use on close to mid-range varmints as I know it will hold sub half-inch 100yd groups, but I'm starting to think it's to pretty to knock around and a good low powered AR might make the right "knock around" rifle.
I know I could probably down load 223 to that velocity but would I risk cycling problems?

Olympic makes a 30 Carbine AR, could I just have that rebarreled?

I know this idea probably dosen't make any sense to do, but I've got the "odd rifle bug". I could have gotten a Marlin Guide Gun but I chose a 458 Socom instead. This project, if feasable, would fit nicely with my tastes for the unusual.

Input please.
Thanks, Jerry
