They've had a couple contracts for the M4 that they've supplied. One large one to the Philippines, and they just were contracted for another international order to allies by the US Army. Plus whatever they had when they were initially bidding on the contract that FN won. View Quote View All Quotes View All Quotes Quoted:

•In March 2015, Remington announced that it would offer the R4 to the civilian market. In July 2018, Remingtonannounced that it had been awarded a US$28 million contract by the United States Army for 5.56mm carbines on behalf of key international allies.
•Remington is pleased to announce the recent award of a contract to supply the US Army with Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) 5.56mm Carbines. This is the second significant award for 5.56mm carbines to Remington by the US Army on behalf of key international allies. Remington Chief Executive Officer Anthony Acitelli said of the award: “Remington is proud of our continuing contribution to public safety and our nation’s national security priorities worldwide. “We look forward to continuing our daily dedication to the design, production, and delivery of the highest quality military and law enforcement products for our public safety officers, warfighters, and allies alike.” •Remington Outdoor Company, Inc. has been awarded a nearly $50 million direct commercial sale contract to produce more than 50,000 R4 carbine rifles for the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Work on the contract is scheduled to begin immediately and will be completed in 2014. A few Google grabs.... |

I bought 1 each of the chrome lined Socom barrels with front sight posts, the 11.5 and 14.5. $260 shipped is less than I paid for my last Colt barrels in either length, same configuration. I've got a pair of rifles set up like this, with Franklin Arms binary triggers. They get run pretty hard, especially when I go to my fraternity reunion camping weekend every summer. It will be nice to have these spares available in a few years when the barrels start to group poorly. The last couple of weeks have seen some decent chrome lined barrel deals - I got one of the LMT full profile 16 in chrome lined barrels with FSP for 149.99, and and LMT 16 in M4 cut barrel for $199. So I'm set for chrome lined barrels for quite some time.

Might have to FO on the 11.5 with the FSB for a MK18 ish rifle View Quote No shipping and no tax. Man, $129 is still a deal in an error where everyone is trying to push Nitride. I'm not sure what to tell you if you think Remington Arms needs to "prove something." lol |

I got two 11.5 barrels. One w A2 fsb, one without. Hoping for the best! Total was like $180, no tax, free ship!
EDIT: 11.5" no FSB page taken down, sold out I guess. There were 10 in stock this morning! |

Has anyone actually taken delivery of one of these yet?
If so, how to they look and what are your impressions? |

They sold out of the non FSP 11.5 barrels, and prices have been bumped up to $180 on the 14.5 and 11.5 FSP.

I guess it depends on if they are TDP barrels or R4 barrels. Wish I would have got 2

For $180, I'd go to Sionics or BA for a budget/back up barrel. Boo to you, CDNN.
|
|
I managed to snag a 14.5 when they were still $99. Wish I would have grabbed an 11.5 also but oh well. Here’s hoping they’re good shooters.

OK...so who is in on a R4 clone? Glad I made my order before the panic.

They have around 316 of the 14.5 socom profile, and 176 of the 11.5 socom profile barrels left.

Left home for the gun show with a $130 11.5" in my cart only to return to find a $180 barrel in my cart that 3 days ago was a $99 barrel. Given the unknown provenance of these barrels I'm unwilling to spend that much and I don't appreciate CDNN jacking their prices that fast. If you got a CHF then good as that's a great deal but I've bought Colt 11.5" barrels for less.

Quoted: I hear you. But one would think an 80% price increase (technically an incremental increase) would raise some eyebrows. As a Texas resident I pay sales tax which puts me at $195. I am a died-in-the-wool capitalist and folks are free to charge whatever they want. I'm only gouged if I elect to pay the asking price and since there are a multitude of quality alternatives I'm electing to not pay their price, especially since we don't actually know what these barrels really are. CDNN makes money, regardless. Besides, I did quite well at the gun show today so I'm good. View Quote |

They updated the description to "AR15 PISTOL BARREL 556 14.5" M4A1REMINGTON".
I did just get my tracking number from them for the first order, should be here within a week. I did also pick up one of the DPMS 16" Chrome 1/9 barrels and the BM 16" Mid "SOCOM" chrome barrels about a month ago. Haven't had a chance to shoot those yet. |

How would we go about determining if these are CHF if they're not marked anywhere? If you look at one of the pics on the 11.5 barrels you can see they have a .070 marking. I believe I read somewhere that each barrel Remington Defense made is supposed to be serialized as well somewhere.
Here's an older thread that may give a little more info. I think the main thing to figure out as others have said are these made to TDP specs or are they CHF Chrome Lined. https://www.m4carbine.net/showthread.php?171374-Remington-R4 |

Had one in my cart at $99, went to check out and it changed to $129. Now at $179. I wish I could have got my hands on one at $99, but it saved me some money. Kind of shitty of CDNN to jack the prices up, but it's a free market.

You remember Kenny Rodgers? You got to know when to hold em, know when to fold em..never let them think they got something special unless you just want to pay more lol. - .22lr style neckbeards with deep pockets buy up all the stock only to turn around and resell for top dollar on EE/marketplace/GB etc. which screws everyone out of getting a deal, including the neckbeard scalpers who never really needed or wanted the product to begin with. |

None of this shit is new, especially with liquidation companies, although I will say it's a large price increase.
I for one thank the OP, as I'd likely have missed out. |

Well I was gonna buy 1 or 2 for 99, 180 nah I’ll get a colt/FN from the EE
