Shopping for a complete 300BLK upper, budget around the $299 pricepoint I am seeing numerous vendors offering. Not very familiar with the nuances that set one vendor's product better than another.

Seeing a similarly configured upper at PrimaryArms - one is Radical Arms, the other Bear Creek.

Radical : http://www.primaryarms.com/CFU16-5-56M4-12FCR_6

Bear Creek: http://www.primaryarms.com/UHA300CHB16-AM10-08-M16-NIC

Curious of any guidance about either.

I built a cheapo with a Bear Creek upper and barrel. The stupid Bear Creek logo on the upper is a downer.
BUT, it functions like a raped ape.
And the accuracy, under 1.100" with cheap Norinco ammo @100 yards was a surprise.

Can you help me out in understanding what you think is low quality? And what you might recommend instead?

Thanks

I would take a bear creek upper every day and twice on Sunday over a radical upper. Heck even would take a bear creek upper over a PSA freedom upper.

Considering Radical products seem to suffer from issue after issue, I wouldn’t consider them.

Guess that leaves you with one option.  Good luck.

I'd go with Bear Creek over Radical.

Their newer nitrided barrels look interesting.

I have a 300blk upper from them, sent it in once because the chamber is screwed up. They sent it back and it's still screwed up..been awaiting a reply for a week.

I bought a 458 socom from them at the same time, it also sucked and has been sold. I would save up some money and buy something worthwhile instead of cheap junk

Eta- my experience is with radical. Got nothing on BC

Besides the rust in a 7.62 barreled upper(was non chrome lined). Seems like BC has their shit together.

Unlike RF which has barrel extensions come off of the barrel, bore issues, etc. Not to manage the shenanigans with stalking a reviewer.

If you are not married to the idea of only bear creek or radical firearms, checkout aero precision, Ballistic Advantage, or sometimes troy and spikes tactical can be found for a good price as well.

In any case. they will all run about 150+ more.... but if its the difference between one that will work reliably vs. one that may work reliably.

I would rather pay the extra, be able to use my rifle, then saving a $100 and increasing the likelihood I am going to have to try and work with a manufacture for warranty repair work.

OK, we'll set Radical and Bear Creek aside

What about:

DS Arms: ($364) http://www.primaryarms.com/ZM4CBU-PA-2-ML-A

Anderson Manufacturing: ($309) http://www.primaryarms.com/PRIMARY-16-KEYMOD-300

Also eyeing this Palmetto 16" but it has a pistol length gas system. I'm struggling to find factual information on the differences and which I would want in a 16" barrelled upper?

I put a 5.56 AR together for a friend with a CBC upper on a PSA lower, seems to shoot good, no issues. Build quality seems to be on par with PSA.

I have several uppers & lowers from PSA in .300bo, 7.62x39 and 9mm. The only issue I ever had was with a PSA 'premium' BCG. It seemed to drag in a .300bo PSA 8" upper and wouldn't reliably cycle subsonic. But that same BCG ran fine in a PSA 16" .300bo upper. The 8" upper got a lightweight AIM BCG which ran fine.

As for gas system, most 16" .300bo uppers are gonna be pistol length systems, that seems to run best with both sub & supersonic ammo. there are a few carbine length systems but I'm betting none of them will be in your price range.

I also have an RF 10" upper in 7.62x39 w/AIM BCG. Mine's had no issues, still torqued properly. I think RF's quality control gotten better but from what I've read PSA & CBC have better customer service if there's issues.

How many of you are echoing what you have read on the internet but have no experience with either product?

Inhave read the RF issues on here. I have not had them with my 8” 300blk.  just hit 1k rounds through it. No issues.  Feed ramps could be polished. I bought because it was cheap wanted to see how cheap I could go. had a complete pistol with RDS and brace for under $400 iirc. This was a couple years ago now.

Eta: I cannot compare to bear creek. I would put the radical pistol up against any of the current budget psa uppers. They have really went downhill IMO
