whats th weight difference between the 14.5 govt profile barrel and the 14.5 heavy barrel?

A 14.5" M4 will weight in at 25 oz (sans FSB/Gas Block, barrel nut etc)
the same 14.5" HBAR will weigh in at 33oz for the same configuraton.

For a difference of 8 oz.

If you can find an A1 profile 14.5" you can shave off roughly another 3 oz.

I have a 14.5" Bushmaster M4 barrel. A friend (Sader762) has a nearly identical rifle -- same buttstock, same optics, etc., but he has a Rock River 16" M4 barrel that is heavy under the handguards.

The difference in weight is only about 1/2 lb, (7.2 oz if my math is correct), but it is quite noticeable when you pick up the rifles side by side.

I also have an 11.5" HBAR, which is only 3.5" heavier than the 14.5" M4 barrel. Even before I'd checked the weight charts, I could tell it was heavier.

So don't think you won't notice the weight differences.

Since that was answered, what is the weight difference between a 20" hbar, and a 16" m-4 profile?

About a pound and a half. I can get you an exact figure in the morning, but 24 ounces should be pretty close (within a couple of ounces).

That would be awesome. I figured it would be a big difference. I just sold my Hbar upper and bought an M4. Hasn't got here yet so I am salivating for it to arrive.

My figures show a difference of 20.8 ounces between an HBAR 20" and a 16" M4 type.
