Have nice A-1 slab side uppers but live in NJ (still have the ban).

If I grind the nubs off of the left and right side of the bayonet lug, is that sufficient to permanently disable it?

I think is is sufficient but would like some others to chime in.

Oh yeah...what should I treat the bare metal with afterwards?

Thanks!

I cut mine off completely (not just the sides), then spray it with Brownell's Gun-kote, and "cook" it by leaning it near the woodstove.

Every lug I have seen in NJ has the lug ground off all of the way to the FSB.

I think hacking the sides off would be sufficient.

I'm in CT and I'd do it.
