Wes,

That's very interesting. I noticed the Knights M4 QD comp was a little longer than the standard A2 as well, but thought it would still come up a hair under 16" w/ a 14.5" setup, even with a crush washer. What barrel mfg/specifics on the 14.5" barrel you set up this way?

I've got a pair still in the white boxes in my shop. I'm never getting a KAC can so I've never bothered to use them.

Wes, do you still sell Les Baer or Young MFG chrome bolt groups? I couldn't find them on your site.

Is it rated by the ATF as a "comp" or is it just a KAC designation?

I have to agree with ch11x here. I don’t think that mine quite measured 16 inches with a crush washer and went with a Smith Jam nut and a peel washer to get 16 inches.

And yes, it’s just KAC’s name, referring to the suppressor that attaches to it I believe.

Since our (KAC) "QD" Compensator follows the basic form and funtion of the A2 type MC, we call it a Compensator.
When we (then the USMC) replaced the M16A1 Flash Suppressor in 1983 with the A2 style, it was because we were able to measure an increased degree of muzzle compensation with the new "flash suppressor" versus the A1's. So technically I felt that even though it was obviously suppressing muzzle flash, it was also now providing a degreee of muzzle control that was not present formerly. So we gave it that "spin."
That being said, I will be the first to admit that the A2 Compensator provides but a small degree of additional control, however, back in those days every "more effiecent muzzle compensator" we looked at did not suppress the muzzzle flash as well as he A1's--and some made it much worse, and suppresing the flash "equal to or better" was our criteria.
And Wes is correct up above, if you want a perfectly round and concentric "end thing" on your barrel, there is nothing on the planet like our (KAC) M4 "QD" Muzzle Compensator.

With mine i had to add a crush washer plus the 2 thicker shims to get 16". But looks 1 billion times better than a faggy phantom.

Can you use a crush washer w/ the KAC QD and still use a HALO or do you still need to just use peel washers?

I'm interested as well. Need something to go on a 14.5" MRP barrel.

It's a GemTech supressor that fits an any 5.56 rifle that uses a NATO standard 22mm muzzle device.

It is a sound suppressor made by Gemtech that is designed to fit over a standard A2 flash hider so that the user doesn't need to remove the flash hider to attach the suppressor.

ETA: I guess I'm a slow typer.

They finally choked on all the excrement they slung around.

Didn't they get into some trouble over a bunch of backdoor KAC merchandise?

I have two 5.56MM RECCEs built by Wes (twins by my definition), one with a Larue 12" & Douglas barrel and 13.2" & Lijla barrel with the KAC M4 QD Comp. Without a suppressor, they are much better than an A2 FS by a long shot. IMHO. I demand things that put holes where I'm aiming consistently, suppressed or not. The KAC does that. Now... a 6.8SPC variant would be well received by me and probably others.

I'd give you no more than $5 for that rifle... Crappy optics with a cheap mount... Not to mention that junker front sight thing coupled with that low-grade rail system. $5 and not a penny more! Just kidding, great looking gun - is that a URX - I can't see with the Stryder in the way. I am seriously thinking about parting with my KAC front sight - need to generate cash and no project worthy of it at this time.

Spooky

Is this M4 "comp" legal in NJ? or is it classified as a flash suppressor?
