Archived [ARCHIVED THREAD] - Sporter II Handguards?

I recently inherited a Colt Sporter II serial # SP335XXX that has triangular handguards.  Were these the type that came on the rifle from Colt?  The reason I ask is because the butt stock is green so I know the owner changed that and I don't know if he switched the handguards from round to triangular as well.

The original Colt Sporter II handguards are round and have a shiny black finish to them.  The later ones are round with a matte black finish.
