I have a SIR 51 on my A2 upper. The handguard cap lightly touches on one side of SIR. Will that cause any accuracy problem? Do I need to remove a bit of cap to make it completely untouched?

That's not unusual. The spring loaded delta rings vary from one to another in dimentions so some hit and some don't. The Delta rings have nothing to do with the fastening on a SIR, anymore than they do on the plastic hand guards, barrel and or barrel nut. Your good to go.

The delta rings have one purpose, to hold the old plastic handguard you replaced. Your good to go.

I may be mistaken but it sounds like he is referring to the handguard cap at front sight, not the delta assembly, I would bend or trim to keep from any external pressure on barrel but in all likelyhood it is not effecting (affecting) the accuracy.
